Jack Skewes, III

John Billings "Jack" Skewes III, age 73, of Duchesne, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at home surrounded by family after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
He was born March 30, 1942 the son of John "Jack" and Veda Poulson Skewes. Veda died 13 days later due to childbirth complications. In 1948, his dad married Mary Jo Armington. Mary Jo took Jack as her own and loved and raised him.
At the age of 23, Jack and his best friend Lynn Hamilton would start their own business together. Skewes and Hamilton Construction. In 1984, they slowly started moving away from construction and became partners with Bryce Hamilton in what is now Uintah Machine and Manufacturing.
Jack was as hard a worker as you will ever find. After four years in business, he met and married Deloris Dea Davis on September 5, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is the absolute love of his life. Their marriage was solemnized in the Vernal Utah Temple on December 16, 2009.
Jack loved sports and was passionate about helping young boys grow up into good men. He coached baseball while his sons were growing up, but he really loved football and wrestling. His highlights in life included watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports. He always felt that sports help youth prepare for life. His hobbies in life were his horses and spending time with family in all of their activities.
