Heather Dawn Christensen, age 38, of Roosevelt, Utah, a devoted mother, beautiful wife, sweet daughter, loyal sister, fierce friend, and very loving follower of Jesus Christ went home on January 26, 2019 after complications from pneumonia.
Heather was born in Roosevelt, on October 4, 1980 to Leann Mitchell Southam and Kerry Wade Needles. She married her high school sweetheart on March 3, 1999, in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Heather and Derek lived in Utah, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio. She has many dear friends across the country, but Utah was home. Her greatest joy was her family. Heather had many talents that she shared with the world including mothering, photography, a sense of adventure, volunteering, arranging flowers, and passionately working with children and adults needing an advocate. Heather most recently worked at RES Care where she was a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional taking responsibility to coordinate and monitor each clients treatment. She loved having a profession where she could positively influence the lives of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved working in the primary. Heather earned a degree in early childhood development and also was proficient at sign language. She made a difference in many lives and will be deeply missed by those who had the honor of knowing her.
Heather is survived by her husband Derek Christensen of Talmage; four loving children, Emma (6), Amon (10), Kenia (13), and Caydon (17); mother, Leann Mitchell (Wade) Southam; sisters, Kara Needles (Mike Morris), Rita (Jake) Porter and Ashley Needles; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Heavy and Patsy Sursa, Bluebell; Doyle and Deena Christensen, Coalville; brother-in-law Ryan (Jessica) Christensen; sister-in-law Cori Wilde (Josh Hutson).
