Gwendolyn May Tapoof

Gwendolyn May Colorow Tapoof, age 65, of Alterra, passed away August 11, 2018, at her home.
She was born December 16, 1952, in Roosevelt, to Robert and Frances Ankerpont Colorow. She graduated from Union High School.  She married Robert Duke Tapoof, Sr. on July 14, 1972, in Vernal.  He died April 24, 2005.
Gwen has worked as a Community Health Representative, a bus driver for the JOM, a senior representative on the Ute Tribe Health Board, and as a waitress at the old Bottle Hollow Restaurant.  She was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary for the Ft. Duchesne American Legion.  Gwen enjoyed crocheting, dancing at Pow Wows and Sundances, listening to Oldies, traveling everywhere, collecting shot glasses, and playing at casinos.  Purple was her favorite color and she was always cooking macaroni.  She will be remembered for her fun loving, outgoing, outspoken personality, and that she lived life how she wanted.  Everyone knew her as “Grizz” because of her laugh and her grandkids called her “Grandma Grizz”.  We will miss her laugh and her constant gum popping.  
Gwen is survived by her step-children, Hilda Tapoof, Ft. Duchesne;Philbert & Mercedes Tapoof, both of Vernal; children, Robinette Tapoof (Eric Wells), Whiterocks; Marsha Tapoof (Alonzo Jim II), Ft. Duchesne; Keno Tapoof, Roosevelt; Jaymo Tapoof, Sunshine Subdivision; adopted children, Brittany Tapoof (Derek Kochampanasken), Ballard; Kriseta (Geoffery) Kirk, West Valley City; Mathew Tapoof, Alterra; many grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jeannette Reed, Myton; Glenda (Norman) Lopez, Towaoc; RoseMarie MountainLion; Delena MountainLion (Elmer Atler); Lesa (Riletto) Sireech;  Byron Lynn MountainLion, Bridgeland; and numerous niecs and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; children, Robert Sr; Jerrilyn, and Shauna; grandchildren, Lenora, & Nemo Tapoof; James & Terry Carey; brothers David, Hewitt, Marshall, Ray, Coulsen Colorow; and Jay MtnLion.  
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Myton Cemetery.  She will be taken to her home in Alterra for a wake on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m.
