Gwendolyn Chapman Remington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and
friend, gracefully departed from this earthly life on March 2, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family.
She was born on November 6, 1938, to Henry Thomas and Lavon Rust Chapman in Roosevelt, Utah, Gwen's life was marked by love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Despite facing early loss with the passing of her parents, Gwen was nurtured by
her maternal grandparents, Leroy and Clara Rust, who instilled in her a strong sense of resilience and compassion. Throughout her high school years, Gwen immersed herself in various social activities and clubs, finding joy in dance and forming lifelong friendships.
From their first date at his junior prom, Kent and Gwen's love blossomed into a
love that lasted for 66 years. Kent L. Remington became her eternal companion when they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 9, 1957. They were blessed with eight children who continue to carry forward the legacy of love and service instilled by their parents.
Gwen's home was a sanctuary of warmth and beauty, adorned with her exquisite
quilting, sewing projects, and meticulously tended flower gardens. Her hospitality knew no bounds, as she welcomed countless friends and strangers alike with open arms and a genuine smile. Kent and Gwen are renowned for their dried apples and their plates of Christmas goodies.
Gwen found solace and joy in nature, whether camping under the stars or
embarking on scenic drives through the mountains. She loved family sledding parties and enjoyed playing the piano, genealogy, and family history.
Above all, Gwen's unwavering faith in the Savior fueled her lifelong commitment
to service within her community and church. Alongside Kent, she joyfully dedicated her time and talents to temple work and various church callings, spreading love and light wherever they went. Together, they embarked on a mission journey, serving as couple missionaries in the Florida Tampa and Arizona Tempe Missions, further exemplifying their deep-seated devotion to their faith and fellow beings. We find solace in our faith that she is reunited again with their baby daughter, Geraldine and other family members whom she has missed.
Gwen Chapman Remington leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selflessness
that will continue to inspire generations to come. While her earthly presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As she reunites with her heavenly family, may her memory be a source of comfort and strength to those who mourn her passing.
