Gregory Eldon Brooksby, of Neola, UT, died peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2023, after complications with a long term battle with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 76.
Greg was born December 2, 1946, in Santa Monica, CA, to Lorum Eldon and Afton Ford Brooksby. He grew up in and around Fredonia, AZ, where his family owned a small ranch.
He spent a many of summers at the Brooksby Ranch in Southern Utah. Greg had a love for horses and the great outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing and floating the Grand Canyon.
Greg married Teresa Ann Tait, February 18, 1966, and they had three children, Ted, Anthony “Tony”, and Brenda. After they divorced, he married Irene Thatcher Richmon, June 5, 1976. He adopted Gregory from Irene’s previous marriage and together they had one child, Trevor. After they divorced, he married JoAnn Whiting on November 8,1991, and were later sealed in the Vernal Temple.
Greg is survived by his wife, JoAnn Whiting Brooksby of Neola, UT; children and their spouses, Ted (Denise) Brooksby, Roosevelt, UT; Anthony (Angel) Brooksby, Washington, UT; Brenda Brooksby (Max Dickens), Rio Rancho, NM; Gregory (Mandy) Brooksby, St. George, UT; Trevor (Reyannon) Brooksby, Dutch John, UT; Landen Brooksby, Bend, OR; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Brandt Brooksby, Alpine, UT; Wade Brooksby, Payson, AZ; and sister, Launa Spendlove, Fredonia, AZ.
Greg was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Irene Thatcher Allen; his parents, Eldon and Afton; three sisters, Ineta Carpenter, Shannon Smith and Arcola Brooksby; four grandchildren, Tucker Dee Brooksby, Darryl J. Brooksby, Jessica S. Brooksby and Jackson Gilbert.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Neola Chapel, 9000 N 2000 W, Neola, UT, 84053. A viewing will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Neola Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to JoAnn Brooksby.
