Gordon Snellen Johnson, age 88, of Roosevelt, passed away December 15, 2015 at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
He was born February 18, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clifford Eugene and Gladys Viola Hale Johnson. He was married to Dorthea "Dot" Johnson and together they had Jeff, Jan & Scott. They later divorced. He married LaDonna Rose Kolb on June 21, 1973 and they were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple. She died March 4, 2012.
Gordon was an artist by trade and pastime. He painted many houses and many business signs throughout the Uintah Basin. He enjoyed sports, politics, painting, sculpting, drawing, and singing. One of his most notable accomplishments, in the 1950s, was re-doing the gold leaf on the Angel Moroni that tops the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings.
He is survived by his children, Joan (Tom) Reidhead, Tony Winn (Kodie Stewart), 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Johnson; and brothers Gary & Larry Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, LaDonna, and brothers Dale & Allen Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m, on Monday, December 21, 2015, at the LaPoint Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, at the Hullinger Mortuary.
