Gertrude Tabbee Iorg, age 81, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away August 14, 2022, at her home.
She was born January 5, 1941, in Ft. Duchesne, to William Tabbee and Byrdie Queacut. She attended the University of Utah.
She married Allen Tahguv in March of 1959, in Vernal, and he died July 27, 1983. She met Bruce Iorg and after 12 years of being together, they tied the knot on September 27, 2004, in Elko, Nevada. He died on April 22, 2005.
Gertrude had worked at Bottle Hollow resort as a receptionist and switch board operator; at the clinic as a nurses assistant and EMT; and then for the Ute Tribe Business Community and Vital Statistics. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading books, going out to eat, and in her younger days riding horses and motorcycles. She often went hunting with Allen and helped with herding the cows. Her greatest love and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved being with the family.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Zane (Treena) Tahguv, Vallerie Tahguv (Scott Reed), Benjamin Tahguv, all of Ft. Duchesne; grandchildren, Terhra, Jasmine, Zana, Cameron, and Katana; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughter Allena Poowegup; grandson, Thomas Tahguv; siblings, Henderson, Nathaniel, Shirleta, and Roy.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Tabbee Cemetery in Ouray. There will be a viewing at the Hullinger Mortuary on Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9-10:00 a.m.
