Gayle May Young, age 76, of Duchesne, passed away November 19, 2018, at her home.
She was born May 27, 1942, in American Fork, to Arnold McKinley and Mae Ellen Mott Jeppson. She married Roger Dean Young on September 11, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gayle first came to the Basin to work in the Lodge at Current Creek which is where she met Dean. She had also worked for Sheriff George Marett, as a deputy county recorder for Duchesne County, a bus driver, and was a member of the Hospital Board. In her younger years, she was in the “Altamont Saddlettes,” which was a riding club that traveled around the Intermountain West performing in Rodeos and other events. She was an excellent cook – especially lemon meringue pie, took great pride and joy in her beautiful place settings, and was always a classy put-together woman. She had been a member of the Duchesne Mother’s Club and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which she loved to shop for. Music was a big part of her life: she taught herself to play piano in her 30's, played the violin, really liked to lead music and sing.
Gayle loved her Savior and her family above anything else. She was an active member of the Church, holding various callings, and was an organist in the Vernal Temple.
She is survived by her husband, Dean, of Duchesne; children Deana Gay Vanderlinden, Salt Lake City; Dee Ann (Ken) Near, Ft. Bridger, WY; Debra Sue (Tal) Fabrizio, Duchesne; Roger Dean (Shelly) Young, Jr., Fruitland; Shelly Dawn (Bart) Allred, Bridgeland; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers and sister, Jack (Jeanette) Jeppson, Washington; Joann (Richard) Saunders, Overton, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Mae; brother, Glade Jeppson; grandchildren, Shannon Marie Patrick, Landon Dean Fabrizio, parents-in-law, Bert & Marian Young; brother-in-law, Jerry Young; granddaughter-in-law, Shantell Young.
