Gay Lyn Swenson

        In lieu of flowers take your family to dinner

       Gay Lyn Patry Swenson, our loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great grandma and friend to all she touched passed away May 30, 2019 at the age of 81, in West Valley City.
    Gay was born September 21, 1937 to her loving parents, Bill and Elva Caroll Patry, in Roosevelt, Utah.
    Gay attended Union high school where she met several lifelong friends. She graduated in 1955 then moved to Salt Lake City were she meet the love of her life, Jerry G. Swenson. They married September 1, 1956, together had 3 children and built their lives together. After 49 years of marriage, Jerry preceded her in death on May 16, 2005.       Gay and Jerry lived in Kearns, Utah for 43 years and moved back to her home town, Roosevelt, in 2001.
    Gay loved her little house in Roosevelt and sitting in her backyard listening to the birds. She would spend many hours sitting there talking on the phone with friends and family.
    Over the years, Gay had the opportunity to work at OC Tanners, Grand Central, Balkamps, owned and operated Valley Lanes Café and the State of Utah H.E.A.T Department. Of all her accomplishments, helping others is what she loved most, oftentimes, putting others needs first to ensure they were well taken care of.
    Gay loved a good party and would always ask, “is there going to be food?” If so, she was going! She had a love for people and would eat, visit and tell some of the best stories. Often times being the life of the party.
    She loved to go to Wendover and could spend days. Her favorite part was sharing
a room with her sister, Alyce Miller, laying in bed watching movies until late afternoon. Followed by a visit to the casino for food and gambling.
    Most of all she cherished her children, grandchildren and friends. Her legacy of unconditional love and support is something that will always be remembered.
    Gay is survived by her children, Jerri (Robert) Uresk, Becky (Ray) Kirchoffer and Kenny (Mary) Swenson. Brother, Max (Pat) Patry and sister Alyce  Miller; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
    Preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Swenson, parents, Bill and Elva Patry, sister, Carol Hollenbeck, brother, Billy Patry and brother-in-law, Dewey Miller.
    Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at 12:00 in the Roosevelt Stake Center (447 East Lagoon Street). Viewings will be on Tuesday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6-8 pm and Wednesday at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 followed by burial in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
