Gary Lee Robinson

Gary Lee Robinson, age 67, of Boneta, passed away October 6, 2017, surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City from complications of being exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
He was born May 15, 1950, in American Fork, to Ray W and June Proctor Robinson. He married Debra”Debbie” Joyce Penrod on June 1, 1970, in American Fork. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 9, 1989.
Gary served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for 15 years and then spent the rest of his life as a horseman breeding the AQHA quarter horses that he loved. He enjoyed herding cattle in the High Uintahs and in the Strawberry Valley. One of his many loves was Boy Scouts, and he received their highest honor for service, the Silver Beaver. He served at the High Uintah Camp for over 23 years as the rifle shooting and horsemanship merit badge counselor. He loved all the boys whom he served while being their Scoutmaster.
Some of his other pastimes were hunting, fishing, being in the wilderness, and cooking – he made the best sourdough pancakes, waffles, and lamb chops. He also loved to cook in the Dutch Oven.
His family meant the world to him, and he often had a child or grandchild riding with him when he was herding in the mountains. His grandchildren were his greatest love. He worked very hard to be at all of his children and grandchildren’s activities. He loved everyone unconditionally, had a big heart, and endured his many health challenges with a smile.
Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie, Boneta; children, Kristina “Tina” (Kirk) Stevens, Holden; Nathan “Nate” (Stephanie) Robinson, Duchesne; Joseph “Joe” (Shalom) Smiley, Orem; daughter-in- law, Jennifer “Jen” (Justin) Parker, Duchesne; 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Les (Vernice) Robinson, Alpine; Sherrie (Kim) Greene, Lehi; Jay (Jean) Robinson, Richfield; John Robinson; Alan (Kathy) Robinson; sister-in- law, Pat Robinson, all of American Fork; mother-in- law, Phyllis Penrod, Boneta; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and Scouts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brandon; brothers, Jack & Kay; and father-in- law, James Penrod.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Moon Lake Ward LDS Chapel where there will be a viewing on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Mountain Home-Boneta Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the American Legion and Army National Honor Guard.

The family wishes to thank all the loving hands who have cared for Gary over his lifetime.
