Gary Grant Hansen

Gary Grant Hansen, age 80, passed away at the Beehive Home in Vernal, UT on September 26, 2020 after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born in San Francisco, CA on August 9, 1940 to Grant and Rita Sadler Hansen.  He grew up in Upalco, UT and attended Altamont High School. He married Sylvia Sullivan on December 28, 1962.  She died May 25, 2007.
Gary was always reading books and learning new things.  He could fix or build just about anything.  His favorite hobbies included sailing, reading, kayaking, camping, river rafting and especially walking and bicycling with his grandkids.  You would often find Gary on the floor with the grandkids, teaching them how their toys worked.
Gary was involved in many businesses throughout his life.  He ran a dairy in Salem, owned a crane service in Roosevelt and was a part of Hansen Oil Recovery Services in Arcadia, UT.  He operated a variety of heavy equipment and was good at all kinds of field and mechanical work.
Gary had a sparkling wit and wry humor that he maintained even while his body declined.  He remained firm and steady in his resolve to never let his disease stop him from doing what he wanted to do.  No one ever heard him complain.
He is survived by his children, Shelly (John) Bass; Samantha (Dave) Creamer; Gary Scott (Brittany Hulse), his siblings, Chad (Joyce); Delyse Bellon; Valerie (Richard) VanZuiden; Merralee (Duane) Boyce; Guy (Karen); and Todd (Tara); 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
He spent his final days in the Beehive Home in Vernal.  We thank them along with Canyon Hospice for their kind care.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
