Garrett Martinez

Garrett Darnell Martinez, age 48, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away August 22, 2021, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center from complications of COVID-19.
He was born July 18, 1973, in Roosevelt, to Darnell Rick and Joann Hazel Wash Martinez. He married April Serawop and they later divorced. He was companions with Betty Manning, they later separated.
Garrett’s passion was playing the guitar. He was also a good pool and dart player, and enjoyed going to casinos. Garrett was a proud member of the Northern Ute Tribe.
He is survived by his siblings, Joseph Tohannie, Jensen; Margaret Tohannie, Montana; Janna Groves, Idaho; Jeromy Groves, Ft. Duchesne; Blue Sky Martinez, Oregon; Terry Martinez, Salt Lake City; Alice & Tasha Martinez, Randlett; Leal Martinez, Myton; uncle, Raymond Martinez, Sr., & family, aunts, Roberta Grant, Lola Whitetail & family, great aunt, Alice Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents brothers, Keith Tohannie, Silas Chimburas, uncles, Robert, Merlin, and Ernie Martinez, aunt, Kathleen Martinez.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the
Randlett Cemetery. A wake will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ft.
Duchesne Community Building. Masks will need to be worn and please use social distancing.
