Frank Lamar Reynolds

Frank Lamar Reynolds, age 89, of Ballard, passed away February 27, 2017, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1927, in Monticello, Arkansas, to Ed Turner and Lillie Idell Lance Reynolds.  Frank left high school and joined the US Navy when he was 17 years old.  He served during World War II.
He then met the love of his life Bernetta “Bennie”  Bell Baker in Prescott, Arizona and they were married on December 8, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the “Hitchin’ Post Wedding Chapel”.
Frank was a hard worker and lived in various western states working as a truck driver in the oil field.  Having been plagued with many health and physical issues, plus his soft spot for animals and love of farming, he finally moved the family to Utah, settling in the Uintah Basin.  He enjoyed ranching and had a name for all 100 of his cattle, plus every other animal on the farm.  He also ran “Hoot’s Place Café” from 1972-1979 which is located near Pelican Lake.
Music was an important part of his life, starting to play the guitar at age 13, and only stopping in the last few weeks of his life.  He played with the “Old Time Fiddlers” and then with his own little group, “Lamar & Company.”  He has played for hundreds of weddings, funerals, and other events.
Frank was an honest man who never met a stranger.  People were drawn to him and it seemed that no matter where he was, if he was telling a story, there would be a crowd.  His mind was sharp right up to the end, and he’ll be remembered for never saying a cuss word nor saying anything bad about anyone.  He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Bennie, of Ballard; children, Lonnie Hancock (Leslie Anderson), Nevada City, CA; Debbie Jarman, Pelican Lake, UT; Dale (Mike) Maguire, Vernal; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Mattie Reynolds; a great-grandson, Garth Ward Jarman III; son-in-law, Garth Jarman; and his 12 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary where viewings will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Avalon Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion.
