Evelyn Miles

Evelyn Faye Muir Miles, age 84, of Roosevelt, formerly of Altamont, passed away August 12, 2016, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa.
She was born June 24, 1932, in Fruitland, to Ralph Frank "Dick" and Tessie Lucille "Maggie" Ivie Muir. She married Jay Robert "Bob" Miles on December 24, 1948, in Duchesne. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 6, 1964. He died December 11, 1974.
Evelyn began work as a secretary at Altamont Elementary and then later at Altamont High School. She was respected by the children and she loved them in return. She was also a school bus driver for Uintah School District, and took great pride in her driving skills - especially the fact that she wasn't afraid of driving in the city. Later, she became a head resident at the dorms in BYU, which she very much enjoyed.
Evelyn was feisty, strong, smart, diplomatic, intrepid, and adventurous, and always spoke her mind. She enjoyed drawing, crocheting, riding horses, traveling, and constantly learning. In her younger married days, she spent much time with her husband at his AA meetings. They loved and were loved by that group, who became like a second family. She always tried to do what was right, especially concerning her kids and grandkids. She was a member of the LDS Church. She served as a stake missionary with her husband, Bob, and enjoyed much success.
She did what she wanted to do, when she wanted to do it.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Danny Wayne Miles, Australia (for now); Diane (LaVon) Miles Giles, Altamont; Michael Robert (Jill) Miles, Monroe; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; daughter, Kathleen Miles; granddaughter, Jennifer Miles; parents, Dick and Maggie; brothers and sisters, Alan Ralph Muir, Leon Muir, Elizabeth "Betts" Baum.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont LDS Stake Center with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
