Emmett J Manning, age 64, of Roosevelt, passed away March 28, 2025, at the Utah Valley Hospital.
He was born March 2, 1961, in Roosevelt, to Ferdinand and Anna Ice Cornpeach Manning.
Emmett enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his bike everywhere and gambling. He attended Sundances and Pow Wows in his younger days. He was given the Indian name, “Sparrow Hawk,” because when he was younger, he saved and raised a sparrow hawk after they had fallen out of a nest.
Emmett is survived by his siblings, Earl (Catherine) Manning, Sr., Indian Bench; Everett (Cassandra) Manning, Ft. Duchesne; Raymond Manning, Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, Margaret Manning; grandparents, Anson & Maud Manning, great-great-grandparents, Snake John Poo-room Manning, great, great grandparents, Joseph Cornpeach, Daphine I Plattee, siblings, Ferdinand Manning, Jr., Margaret A. Jack, Eleanor M. Tabbee, Virginia M. LaRose, Albert Manning; nephews, Earl Manning, Jr., Alex D. Manning, Hank “Bear Boy” LaRose, Rudy LaRose, Nicholas Manning, Shooter LaRose,, Les Manning, Ottis Manning, Blaine Tabbee, Darwin PenningJack, Daniel Cornpeach, Julie Cornpeach, Alberta Cornpeach, Newman Cornpeach, Tony Boy TallBird, Thomas TallBird, Lance Manning, Ted Manning, Frank Cornpeach, and Joshua Manning.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 9-5 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. There will not be a wake.
Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
