Edsel Heslip

Edsel Benton Heslip, age 91, of Roosevelt, passed away on December 20, 2015, at his home in the Crossroad Apartments.
He was born September 7, 1924 at the Herman Keifer Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, to Dennis and Maude Heslip. He was the youngest of 4 children.
He attended school in Detroit before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He married and divorced twice and then found the love of his life, Eloise Deloris Yancy, in 1977. They were married on June 23, 1981, in Washington.
Edsel and his family resided in the state of Washington where they owned the only black machine company in the state, machining aircraft parts for Boeing, the Air Force, Lockheed and many others. The machine company was very successful.
After retirement, he and Eloise moved to Alaska, a place that they loved, and lived there for a few years. They then moved back to Washington to be near the grandchildren.
Edsel's health had been deteriorating for some time. For the last three years, he was living in Roosevelt with his son Frederick who took excellent care of him. After a good fight, he finally succumbed to his illness. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He leaves all to cherish their memories.
Edsel is survived by his children, Yvonne Heslip- Massey, Detroit; Leslie Heslip, Atlanta, Sasha Anderson, Seattle; Lori (Billy) Heslip-Hurd, Seattle; Dennis (Nicola) Heslip, Auburn, Washington; Fred (Danielle) Heslip, Roosevelt; Randy (Jessica) Heslip, Auburn; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by a son, Edsel Vanise Heslip; grandson, Mathis, and brothers, Dennis Johnson Heslip, Jr.; Leonard Heslip, and a sister, Dorothy Hatten-Heslip.
Home Going Service on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 12:00 noon at the Hullinger Mortuary, Roosevelt. Cremation to follow services and then the cremated remains will be placed at the VA Cemetery in Washington in the Spring of 2016.
