Douglas “Wayne” Guinn, age 96, of Roosevelt, passed away December 7, 2024, at the Landmark Care Center in Vernal. He was born February 23, 1928, in Stiatook, Oklahoma, to Samuel Meredith and Edna Silk Guinn. He married Donna Ruth Kendall on September 24, 1994, in Kingman, Arizona, and they were sealed August 5, 1995, in the Las Vegas Temple. She died December 27, 2021.
Wayne served in the United States Army and served with the occupation troops in Japan after World War II. During the Korean War, Wayne had the sacred honor to serve as an escort to fallen soldiers as they returned back to the United States. He was proud to serve his country. Family was the most important thing to him, he loved spending time with his family and was a great provider. He had a wonderful personality and enjoyed joking around.
Wayne is survived by his children, James Lee Guinn, Barbara Alexander, Melinda Guinn; sons-in-law, Doug Mezenen and Mike Hyde, 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, son, Douglas Edwin Guinn, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hyde, and son-in-law, Mike Mezenen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 11:00 AM.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 - 10:45 AM.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Army Honor Guard and the Roosevelt American Legion.
