Donna Swasey Thompson

     Donna Swasey Thompson, age 82, passed away August 7, 2022, at home in Altamont, UT.
     Donna was born December 5, 1939, in her family's home on the family farm in Duchesne County, UT. She attended and graduated from Duchesne High School in 1958 and attended one year at BYU. She married Stephen "Steve" Wilford Thompson on July 28, 1959, in the Logan Utah Temple. She gave birth to 5 sons.
     Donna loved music and was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and organ. She used her talents serving in church playing the organ and held many other callings. She also taught piano and organ lessons to many young and old. She was also willing to share her other talents and taught many how to make bread, can food, sew and quilt, along with making her families clothes and countless homemade meals. Later in life, she also team taught Hunter's Education with her husband, Steve, for 16 years.
     While living in Dutch John for 26 years, Donna served many of her neighbors and took it upon herself to welcome each new resident with a home baked treat of bread or cookies and made sure they had what was needed to get started in a new home. She also filled in many times as a substitute teacher at Dutch John Elementary and Altamont schools. She made beautiful quilts and crocheted tablecloths, doilies and ornaments. She received blue ribbons at county and state fairs for her crochet work.
     Donna was preceded in death by her father, Lucius R Swasey, mother, Inez Durrant Swasey, brother, George Swasey, and infant brother, Dean Swasey, sister, Ardel Gillespie, and grandson, Oscar Dempsey Thompson.
     She is survived by her husband, Steve W. Thompson, brother, John (Barbara) Swasey, sisters, Maxine Jensen and Amanda Prows, sons, David S. Thompson (Kip), John E. Thompson (Ruth) , Blaine L. Thompson (Karen), Kenneth R Thompson, Benjamin H. Thompson (Crystal). She had 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She made sure everyone knew that it was quality, not quantity that mattered!
     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Altamont Stake Center.
     Viewings will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the church, and on Tuesday from 10:00 - 10:45 AM prior to the service.
     Burial in the Altamont Cemetery.
