Don R Birch, age 83, of Altonah, passed away December 13, 2016, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
He was born August 27, 1933, in Provo, to Max Eldon and Tina Fontella Allred Birch. Don met Evone on a blind date and they were married October 6, 1956, in Roosevelt. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Don was a kind-hearted and generous man, giving to family members, friends and co-workers alike. He had a strong work ethic, working up to the point where he could no longer walk at age 80. He always volunteered to work holidays and during the hunts when others wanted time off. When Don wasn’t working, he was an avid reader. Though he had little formal education beyond high school, he was well educated in the sciences, history, among many other subjects. He enjoyed in-depth discussions and debates of scientific theory with anyone who could keep up with him.
Don is survived by his wife, Evone, of Altonah; children, Joe (Katherine) Birch, Vernal; Mark (Shelly) Birch, Tucson, AZ; Cheryl (Mackae) Potter, N. Ogden; Angela (Steven) Wright, Logan; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Colene Nelson, and Maxine Pannas, both of Utahn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Udell & Kent; and a nephew, Clay Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at the Hullinger Mortuary on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Altonah Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.hullingermortuary.com
