Dillon Serawop, Sr., age 63, of Randlett, died November 2, 2018, at his home in Randlett surrounded by his children.
Dillon was born on December 23, 1954 in Roosevelt to Charlie and Lena Cesspooch Serawop. He married Ellen Genereaux, and she died February 27, 2007.
Dillon was a member of the Ute Indian Tribe. He worked for the tribe for 30 years in many departments, starting as a tribal police officer and then retiring as director of the maintenance department. He was a hard worker who always looked after his family. Dillon chose to retire early so he could vacation and travel with his family. His travels took him everywhere from Alaska to New Zealand. In his younger years, he loved to camp and fish with his family. He was an avid Blackjack player and was invited to many invitation-only Blackjack tournaments in Wendover and Las Vegas. He loved to be around his family, especially his grandchildren. They brought such joy to him. He was a true lover of ice cream because of many memories of enjoying ice cream with his grandmother as a young boy. According to him, breakfast was the most important meal of the day. He was a people person and could spark up a conversation with anyone anywhere, and made friends wherever he went. He was the kindest person and always willing to help anyone in need. His sense of humor is what his family will miss the most.
Dillon is survived by his children, Dillon Serawop, Jr., Wayland Serawop, Dalena Serawop (George Taveapont), Corey (Lauren) Serawop, Stephanie Serawop (John Amillategui), Dottie Serawop, Amanda (Reggie Jr.) Jenks, Rachell Serawop (Ryan Poowegup), Guthrie Serawop; special niece, Starla Serawop; step-children, Adam (Charlotte) Shavanaux Sr., and Elijah Shavanaux; 25 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, step-father, Lee Alhandra; siblings, Susan Serawop, Alonzo Serawop; adopted sister, Charlene (Jersinio) Apolinario, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen; siblings, Everett Serawop and Rosita Serawop; steps-sons, Lance Shavanaux, Bruce Shavanaux, and Daniel Shavanaux; and grandson Orville Lopez.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Randlett Community Building. A wake will be held on Monday after 4:00 p.m. at his home in Randlett.
Burial will be in the Randlett Cemetery.
