Diane Adell Hamilton, age 78, of St .George, Utah, formerly of Altamont, Utah passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 2, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Donald Arthur and Lucille Roe Childs. She spent her childhood in the small town of Wales, Utah, before embarking on a life filled with love, adventure, and service to others.
On May 4, 1962, Diane married her best friend, Thomas James Hamilton, Sr. Together, they raised four children, building a foundation of love and mutual respect. Though they later divorced, Diane and Thomas remained lifelong friends, bound by the strong bond they shared.
Diane worked in various roles throughout her life, including as a dental assistant, a secretary at Utah State University, a waitress at Village Inn, and later, in her most beloved role, working as a gauger in the oil fields. It was here that she found fulfillment in the challenge of the work and the camaraderie it provided.
Diane had a deep and abiding love for her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and always went out of her way to make them feel loved and cared for. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality, where no one ever left hungry, and everyone was welcomed with open arms. She was also known for her love of exploration, often going on adventures with her family, discovering new places and making memories along the way. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had a strong testimony of the gospel and her faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
Diane is survived by her children, Rosean (Chris) Stephens, Snowflake, Arizona; Thomas James Hamilton, Jr.. Roosevelt, Utah; Franklin (Franny) Hamilton, Bluffdale, Utah; daughter-in-law, Kerri Hamilton, Tabiona; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; who brought her immeasurable joy .
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her sister, several aunts and uncles, and her son, Calvin Joe Hamilton.
Diane will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery.
