Dennis Wayne Jones, age 82, of Tabiona, passed away February 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 5, 1942, in Salt Lake City, to Wayne and Evelyn Harman Jones. He Married Flora Fay Woolley on June 22, 1962, in Salt Lake City.
As a young boy he worked on the farm. This is a place he truly found peace. He spent countless hours on the tractor and changing water, and loved to go on cattle drives.
He worked in the oil field as a truck driver for almost 50 years, but cattle ranching was his lifetime work. He was a member of the Cattleman’s Association and was awarded the Senior Cattleman of the Year. He was mayor of Tabiona for many years and was president of the Farm Creek Irrigation Ditch Company.
He loved his family, but his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Flora, of Tabiona; children, Pennie Grant, Duchesne; Roger (Connie) Jones, Vera (Ronald) Potter, Brandon Jones, all of Tabiona; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Nelson, West Valley City; Elaine Curry, Hanna, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Bryce; son-in-law, Tony Grant; brother, Don Jones; sister, Lynne Gransbury; sister-in-law, Jeanette Jones, brothers-in-law, Craig Nelson, David Curry, and Danny Gransbury.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabiona Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Tabiona - Red Cliffs Cemetery.
