Dean Richard Bristol, age 71, of Roosevelt, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Uintah Basin Rehabilitation and Sr. Villa.
Dean was born February 9, 1945 in Roosevelt to Stanley Christopher and Violet Elizabeth Bird Bristol. He married LaRae Boren on September 22, 1964 in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. She died October 19, 2006.
Dean was the third youngest of 11 children. He worked in the Gilsonite mine for 16 A½ years and was an automobile mechanic for Vern Richens and Big O Tire. He could fix anything that needed fixed.
He loved to hunt, fish, and camp, especially with his family. In his later years he liked to do puzzles, which he would share with his family and friends, play solitaire on his computer, participate in bingo games and visit with the other patients at the Sr. Villa. He delighted in bowling on the Wii, and was the champion bowler at the Villa.
He is survived by his children, Shelly Rae (Mike) Jones, Vernal; Lisa Dawn (Jim) Allan, Fruita, CO; Jamie D (Luke) Fausett, Bluebell; Robyn Lee Curtis, Duchesne; Deana Rae Bristol, Monarch; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, his siblings, Louis (Susan) Bristol, Vernal; Louise (Arlo) Blanchard, SLC; and Julia Reed, Roosevelt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, LaRae Bristol, children, Toni and Travis Dean Bristol, siblings, Larry, Bruce, Alden, Gene and Dale Bristol, Betty Long and Virginia Lister.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held at the Hullinger Mortuary on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Vernal Memorial Park.
