David Nielsen, Sr.

    David Kay Nielsen Sr., age 72, of Gusher, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, after a year long battle with cancer, at his home with his family by his side.
    David was born December 25, 1942 in American Fork, Utah to Grant and Madge Young Nielsen. He married Charlotte Clark on June 7, 1963 in Pleasant Grove, UT. They were sealed in the Vernal LDS Temple on June 7, 1999.
    David loved horses and in early years he won ribbons for showing Appaloosa horses. He  worked for many years as a crane operator traveling to several states to move a train engine, bridges, condo’s and  lots of oil field work. He had a talent to fix almost anything that went wrong at home from fixing plumbing, washers, dryers, furnaces etc,.  He had a wonderful talent of working with wood, making beautiful items which he shared with many. He liked to hunt, and was a Die Hard Denver Bronco and Atlanta Braves fan.
    He is survived by his wife Charlotte Nielsen, Gusher; children Tammy (Jerry) Whitlock, West Valley City; David Lynn Nielsen, Santaquin, UT; Michele (Gordon) Bastian, Neola; David Kay Nielsen, Jr., Gusher; Brett (Dee Dee) Nielsen, Gusher; Keli (Rhett) Deets, Cedarview; 21 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and sister Vickie Warden, Pleasant Grove, UT.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Elva (Arlo) Pierce, Elda Thomson, Anna (Cecil) Parker, Lyman Nielsen, Robert Southam, and brother-in-law Jack Warden.
    Funeral services held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lapoint LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Thursday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
    Burial in the Gusher Cemetery.
