Daryl Eugene May, 71, affectionately known as Buster, passed away on January 17, 2025, at his home in Duchesne, Utah.
Daryl was born on November 13, 1953, in Ventura, California, to Dale Eugene May and Elverna Christine Christiansen.
Daryl’s life was full of love and adventure. In his first marriage to Sally Sunnel, they welcomed one son and later divorced. He then married Connie Stacy, with whom he had three children before later divorcing. In April of 1996, Daryl met the love of his life, Connie Lynne Robinson. They were married on December 20, 1997, and shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
For five years, Daryl and Connie spent their lives together on the open road, traveling coast to coast in a semi-truck with a reefer van. Daryl was the driver, while Connie served as his navigator. He affectionately called her his “Purple Rose,” which became her CB handle during their trucking adventures.
Daryl graduated from Astoria High School in Astoria, Oregon, before proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he became a man of many talents, excelling as a long-haul truck driver, a master in paint and auto body work, and even spending time shrimping on a shrimp boat. His last job before retirement was as a skilled machinist. Daryl took pride in his work and was a true master of his trades. He had a deep love for serving and helping others, and later in life, he found faith as a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Daryl is survived by his loving wife, Connie Lynne May; his sisters, Chrissanne Dahl and Linda May; his brother, Douglas May; his children: Brandon (Rachel) May, Cassie May, Justin (Taylor) May-Warr, and his step children: Chad Olsen, Samantha (Emily) Madrigal, Sadie (Devin) Christensen, Rachel Doty Olsen, and Joshua (Natasha) Farnsworth. He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Eugene May; his mother, Elverna Christine Hobbs; his sister, Betty Jean; his nephews, Michael Dahl and Steven Kerr; his in-laws, Douglas and Sharon Robinson; and his beloved son, Ethan May, whom he missed dearly. Services to honor Daryl’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Duchesne 1st and 3rd Ward LDS Church. Military honors will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by visitation at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life service will take place at 12:00 p.m.
