Dallas Kenneth Charging, age 36, of Pierre, South Dakota, passed away on October 12, 2023 with his family by his side.
Dallas was born October 15, 1986 in Roosevelt Utah to Lola Marie Whitetail and Dallas Lee Charging
Dallas was given the name of ‘Red Sun Setting’ by Auntie Alice Serawop Jones at birth. At age 4 his grandfather, Kenneth Charging, POW of the Korean War, member of the three affiliated tribes of Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara gave his childhood name of ‘Eagletail’ to Dallas at a naming ceremony in White Shield, ND
Dallas enjoyed participating and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and the Utah Jazz. He liked listening to heavy metal music, watching scary movies, drawing, camping, especially at Yuba Lake State Park, plus he loved spending time with his nephew, Damien Charging. Whom he helped raise from infancy into his early years.
He was a charming, responsible, kind, loving, considerate, helpful, gentleman, generous, tender-hearted man who would help anyone who needed it and never said a mean word about anyone. Close friends lovingly called him Dallas Charming.
He is survived by his daughter, Raeonna Gerry, parents, Lola Marie Whitetail Gilbert, Mesa, AZ; and Dallas Lee Charging, Lower Brule, SD; his siblings, Brianna Gilbert, Mesa; his twin brother, Travis Charging, Mesa, AZ; Scott Charging, Salt Lake City; Ernest Charging, Mesa, AZ; Barbara Charging, Phoenix, AZ; also survived by uncle, Ray Martinez, Las Vegas, NV; auntie, Pauline Whitetail, Watanga, OK; his nieces and nephews, Damien, Miya, Luna, Esmerelda, Cyril, and Serena
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth Charging, Hattie Serawop Coats, George Whitetail, uncles, Rick Martinez, Merlin Martinez, Robert Martinez, Ralph Whitetail, Ernest Martinez, James Whitetail, Kenneth ‘Fuzzy’ Charging, Woody Charging, Macroy Charging, aunts, Kathleen Martinez, Evelina Whitetail, and nephews, Scottie Charging Jr., and Corey Daniel Charging
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Randlett Cemetery. A wake will be held after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Randlett Community Building.
