Cotton Huffman

Myrlin Gerald "Cotton" Huffman, age 72, of Roosevelt, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
Myrlin was born October 22, 1943 in Pritchett, Colorado to Virgil Lloyd and Dorothy Dean Mayo Huffman. He married Rose Drennon, they later divorced. Family was everything to Myrlin. He cherished his children and delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. He was a real people person, he never met a stranger. He liked to fish, ride motorcycles, do tinkering and mechanic work, traveling and seeing things, going to the zoo, and in his younger days, horses. Cotton loved working with foals at the ranch and loved watching his granddaughters compete at the Jr. Rodeos and rodeo queening. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful story teller and could keep you entertained the whole time. When Cotton became ill, he lived with his daughter, Rose Ann Slaugh, who gave him the best of care. He loved his time spent with her and their trips to the VA Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.
Cotton is survived by his children, Rose Ann (David) Slaugh, Vernal; Jake (Suzzanne) Huffman, Ft. Duchesne; 5 grandchildren, Chelsea (Levi) Hughes, Jody Slaugh, Katelyn Huffman, Dianne Huffman, Libby Huffman, and acting grandpa to Alexis Fausett; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Montgomery, Toni Anderson, Mickey Adams, and many special nieces, nephews and animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Barbara Broce, Dale Huffman, Darrell Huffman and Rick Adams. Though Cotton moved to Utah to be with his children, Baca County was home and where he was raised and where the rest of his friends and family live. That is where he wished to return.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maltbie Funeral Home in Springfield, Colorado. A viewing will be held on Friday night from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Maltbie Funeral Home. Burial in the Springfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Mason Reed Huffman, Cotton's nephew, to the Cystinosis Research Network, 302 Whytegate Court Cove, Lake Forest, IL 60045
