Coleen Bastian Gardner, age 92, of Neola, passed away September 18, 2023, at the Uintah Basin Senior Villa.

            She was born November 11, 1930, in Roosevelt, to Wesley Sern and Virgie Marx Bastian.  She married N. Lynn Gardner on May 21, 1951 in Elko, Nevada.  They were sealed May 21, 1968, in the Salt Lake City Temple.  He died November 29, 2016. 

            Coleen worked as a banker at First Security Bank, a waitress at Steve’s Café, and for many years as a dispatcher and secretary for Uintah Basin Concrete.  She was a beautiful seamstress and made most of her children’s clothing when they were little.  She was a prolific quilter, giving a quilt to all of her family and most of the community.  She enjoyed embroidery, needlework, shopping, and was a good cook.  She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple for more than 12 years.  Geneaology was another of her favorite pastimes along with a little bit of gossip. 

            Coleen is survived by her children, Shane (Gail) Gardner; Linda (Jeff) Horrocks, both of Neola; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Neil) Duncan, Orem; Karen Brough, Washington; sister-in-law, JoAnn Bastian, Neola; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; daughters, Louise Smith, Cindy Gardner; grandchildren, Brandi Gardner, Cole Horrocks; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Miles, Kate Gardner; brothers, Elvin Bastian, Keith Bastian, and Gordon Bastian.

            Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Neola Chapel.  There will be a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
