CLAUDIA CAREY
Claudia Rae Davies Carey, age 67, of Mapleton, Utah, formerly of Duchesne, passed away Sept. 13, 2016 in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, surrounded by her loving family.
Claudia was born Dec. 31, 1948 in Provo to John R and Freda Beal Davies. She grew up on a farm north of Duchesne milking cows, driving tractors, and caring for the farm animals. She loved the outdoors and nature.
Claudia graduated from Duchesne High School where she was a cheerleader, Debutante (dance group) and student teacher of P.E. She became a beautician and sales woman for several years.
Claudia enjoyed art and shared her artistic flair by starting her own business, Cottage and Castles Interior Designs, while living in California. She was an accomplished interior designer in Utah for many years, achieving numerous honors and awards at home shows along the Wasatch Front.
Claudia had a life-long love of animals. She loved horses, especially fast ones and broke several horses to ride as a youth. She loved and bred Shih Tzu dogs. She devoted her last years to her "little angels" and had started her own special design of doggie beds and furniture.
She was a member of the LDS church.
Claudia had a quick wit and fun-loving humor that brought smiles to the faces of family, friends and strangers alike. Her kind, generous, and affectionate nature was contagious, drawing many people to her side. She was an independent and determined woman who lived by the adage: "I did it my way."
Claudia is survived by four sons, Todd (Kate) Webb, Corona, CA; Kelly Webb, Randall (Mandy) Carey, and Jeff Carey, all of Provo; two grandsons, Garrett & Hayden Webb, CA; mother Freda Davies, Duchesne, two sisters and two brothers, Pamela (Rex) Harrison, Orem; Serena (Brad) Taylor, Dwayne (Margaret) Davies, both Duchesne; and Ronald (Karin) Davies, Spanish Fork.
She was preceded in death by her father, John R Davies.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Duchesne 1st & 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 130 So. 300 East, where there will be a viewing from 10-10:45 AM. Burial will be in the Duchesne Cemetery.
