Cecil Willard Hanberg, age 83, of Bridgeland, passed away August 31, 2017, at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal.
He was born August 25, 1934, in Heber City, to Ray Willard and Elizabeth Lodicy “Bessy” Stanley Hanberg. He graduated from Altamont High School and then went on to vocational school where he learned to be a top machinist. He had also attended the University of Utah and BYU.
He married Carol Jean Bleazard on June 19, 1954, in Mountain Home, and in 1959 they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
After living and working for ten years in Salt Lake City, he moved back to the Uintah Basin so that he could raise his family on the farm. He raised his eight children in Bluebell and Bridgeland. He loved the Uintah Mountains where he spent all the time he could fishing and hunting between raising his family, running his dairy farm, and planting and tilling his many acres of land. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings including Bishop for seven years and as a missionary with his wife in Washington DC.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol; his children, Darlene Butler, Lake Arrowhead, CA; Sherri Hanberg, Salt Lake City; Steven (Marcia) Hanberg, Avalon; Nancy (Ken) Moon, Duchesne; Wayne (Jan) Hanberg, Bridgeland; Jeff (Julee) Hanberg, Vernal; Karen (Jason) Nelson, Highland; David (Myndee) Hanberg, Vernal; 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with five on the way; brothers, Glendon Hanberg, Vernal; Dale (Mary) Hanberg, Altamont; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Phil Butler, and a brother, Rex Hanberg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bridgeland LDS Chapel where a viewing will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Bridgeland Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.hullingermortuary.com
