Our dear loving mother Carolyn Bolton Jacobson, returned to her Heavenly Father on December 6, 2024 at her home in Bluebell Utah surrounded by family. Mom was able to fight long enough to give Dad one last gift as she passed 44 minutes into her 55th wedding anniversary and was able to say good bye to each of us the day before passing.
She was born December 22, 1947 in Salt Lake City Utah to Donald and Norma Bolton. She was the 3rd of 4 children. She attended several different schools during this time where she excelled academically and learned to dance as well as play the piano. Her family moved from Salt Lake to Bridgeland Utah at the age of 13 where she attended Duchesne High School. She had many friends during this time and thoroughly enjoyed her high school years in Duchesne.
Chad & Carolyn met in 1969 at a café in Duchesne where she was working as a waitress. It was love at first sight for both of them and they were shortly married on December 6th of that same year.
In February of 1972 they moved to Tulsa Oklahoma with their 2 young sons Troy & Bryce. While living in Tulsa they were blessed with their 3rd child Jennifer Jacobson (JJ). They loved Tulsa and the people. What they were not fond of was the intense heat & humidity along with the catastrophic weather during tornado season.
In 1974 they loaded up all of their belongings, 3 kids and a dog and moved to Farmington New Mexico. During the long drive to their new home the dog took up residency on the back seat while all 3 kids slept on the floor. The dog seemed to have been well rested when they finally made it to their new home. They lived in Farmington until 1977 and moved to Roosevelt Utah to be closer to family.
A few short years after arriving in Roosevelt Carolyn graduated from nursing school in 1981 earning her nursing license. She naturally excelled at her job because she loved helping people and people loved her. She worked at the Uintah Basin Medical Center for several years. Carolyn was instrumental in handling some of the unruliest patients where she had a way of getting even the most harden person to calm down so the staff could do their jobs. She then transferred to home health and often stated she could not believe they were actually paying her to do a job she would have done for fun. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her kids play sports & was actively involved. She had a unique way of helping each of her children learn some life lessons along the way as well. Mom retired from the medical field after over 20 years of serving the public.
She was also very proud of her husband Chad who served in the US Navy, along with her oldest son serving in the US Army National Guard and her son Bryce serving in the US Marines. Her Dad and oldest brother also served. She was very patriotic and considered it a privilege to serve your country.
Upon her retirement Chad and Carolyn moved to the farm in Bluebell Utah where she enjoyed doing yard work and putting her green thumb to use. After Chad’s retirement they spent the winter months in southern Utah enjoying the weather and lots of side by side adventures. During this time she was also able to spend some quality time with her sister, Annette Bolton and her brother, Gary Bolton.
She loved her family deeply and in turn they loved her. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was the rock of our family and will be sorely missed. God be with you til we meet again.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Chad Jacobson, her sons,Troy Bolton Jacobson, Bryce (Allix) Jacobson, her daughter, Jennifer (April) Jacobson and her sister Annette Bolton.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Norma Bolton, siblings, Monty Bolton & Gary Bolton.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her home health nurse Tanesha Burmester Dastrup for going above and beyond the call of duty not only caring for our mother but in helping our family cope during her final stages of life.
