Carol Cragun

Carol Joyce Cragun, age 86, of Roosevelt, passed away December 13, 2023, at her daughter’s home.  
    She was born April 3, 1937, in Park City, Utah, to Henry and Rhea Lawrence Colbert.  She married Ronald Butcher and they later divorced.  She married Gerald Cragun on April 6, 1981, in Elko, Nevada.  He later died and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. 
    Carol and her husband Gerald owned and operated a doll refurbishing business, The Toy Doctor, where Gerald would paint and fix the dolls and she would make new dresses for them.  She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and could make “cakes” out of material to give as baby gifts.  When she was younger she enjoyed ice skating and at age thirteen qualified to go to the Olympic Trials, but chose not to because she would have to be there without family.   She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully read her scriptures.  
    She loved her kids and grandkids and tried to always teach them what was right.  
    Carol is survived by her children Susan (Skip) Hershey, St. George; Kathy Clark, West Jordan; Danny Butcher, Salt Lake City; Sandra (Lewis) Murray, Parachute, CO; Windie (Steve) Casper, Roosevelt; 30 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Sherri Pinnegar & Chris Hennefer; grandchildren, Kristy Butcher; Heather Kendrick; Caleb Karren; and son-in-law, Garry Karren.  
    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt East Stake Center.  There will be viewing an hour before the funeral at the church.
    Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
