Carma Smith Peatross, age 83, of Duchesne, Utah, the wife of William Chad Peatross, died at home surrounded by her family on December 17, 2024.
She was born December 5, 1941, in Heber City, Utah, to Bruce Vernon and Mildred Pope Smith. Carma married her high-school sweetheart, Chad Peatross, in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 15, 1960. They raised a family of five boys and a girl. They recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Carma was a devoted mother who nurtured her children. She supported them at numerous school and church activities. She is revered for her quiet, deep love for each member of her family. Her posterity universally feels her love, and they love and honor her.
Carma fulfilled a dual role of homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business. She and her husband supported each other, and they love each other deeply. Carma was a patriot and a big fan of the U.S. Constitution. Having been a valedictorian, she encouraged scholarship in her home by example. She was especially fond of reading. She showed her devotion to God through her example and through her dedicated service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is a woman of testimony who treasured the Book of Mormon.
Carma is survived by her husband, Chad Peatross, Duchesne; children, Chris (Margie) Peatross, Duchesne; Jeff (Shelley) Peatross, St George; Justin (Cindy) Peatross, Wallsburg; Timothy (Jessica) Peatross, Minott, ND; Lee (Jennifer) Peatross, Duchesne; and Lisa (Michael) Grant, Cedar Hills. She loved her thirty-two grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
Being the youngest, Carma was the last of her childhood family to pass on, preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Mildred Smith, and siblings, Eileen Oldroyd, Duane Smith, Allan Smith, Audrey Guest, and KaraLyn Taylor, as well as by a newborn son, Gregery Peatross.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Duchesne 1st & 3rd Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 130 S 300 E, Duchesne, UT 84021.
A viewing will be held at the church prior to the funeral from 9:30 - 10:45 AM.
Burial in the Strawberry Cemetery, 9100 S 46220 W, Duchesne, UT 84021.
