Bruce LeRoy Bennett, age 63, of Mt. Emmons, passed away March 10, 2017, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center from pneumonia.
He was born October 20, 1953, in Spokane, Washington, to Emil and Doris Bennett. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper.
Bruce came to the Uintah Basin in 1973 for a job that didn’t work out. Boyd and Vivian Freston’s family took him in and they became his family.
He was an honest, hard working man who worked as a roustabout in the oilfield, as a logger in the timber industry, and as a ranch hand, among other things. He was giving and would do anything for his friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses on cattle drives, and spending time with his family at dinners and get-togethers. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He loved his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and they adored him. He had countless friends whom he often visited. He leaves a big empty place in all of our hearts – he will be missed! The family wishes to thank Shawn & Beckey McConkie, and his special friend, Meagher McConkie, for their friendship and for always watching out for him.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Ciarra Pearle Larson, Duchesne; foster mother, Vivian Freston, Arcadia; foster brothers, Lyle, Larry (Calla), Duane (GraceAnn), all of Roosevelt; Robert Freston, Arcadia; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his foster father, Boyd Freston.
Per his wishes he was cremated. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roosevelt Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion.
