Bonnie Oberhansly

Bonnie Lee Oberhansly, age 64, of Salt Lake City, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, returned to our Heavenly Father February 15, 2016.
Bonnie was born to loving parents, Mark L and Fern B Oberhansly, on July 25, 1951. Though born with only a sliver of sight her magnificent spirit knew no bounds. She grew from a precocious, adventurous child in Neola, Utah, to a woman of great style and accomplishment. With the fierce support of her parents she attended the Utah State School for the Blind, graduating as Student Body President. She attended Brigham Young University where she earned a degree in Special Education and taught for over 14 years at Conamore School.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings through the years. After serving an LDS mission to Victorville, CA she moved to Salt Lake City where she worked for the Marriott Corporation. Bonnie did not let her blindness define her. She traveled the world visiting almost every continent, some more than once. The highlight was her 6 month semester abroad in the Holy Land. There wasn't anything she wouldn't try - scuba diving, water skiing, riding an elephant, skydiving! She loved the arts, great movies, and good literature. Many a Saturday night found her at the symphony, opera, or a concert on Temple Square. Her spirit sought after those things that are "virtuous, lovely, or of good report, or praiseworthy."
Bonnie was truly an example to us all and she will be greatly missed by her mother, sisters Sally (Terry) Bastian, Susan Famulary; brothers Mark Bowen (Edelweiss) Oberhansly, John David Oberhansly; nieces and nephews James (Isabelle) Bastian, Cole (Melody) Bastian, Misty Bastian, Natalie (John) Chamberlain, Brooke (Blake) Bigelow, Adam (Sara) Famulary, Bethany (Jim) Smith, and Brie, Spencer, Katelyn, Emily, Mercede and Odessa Oberhansly, and 18 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. A viewing will be held from 11:30 - 12:30.
Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery.
