Rowley Blaine Armitstead, age 90, of Roosevelt, passed away October 18, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 9, 1927, in Meigs, Georgia, to Addison Rowley and Gertrude Lillian Howze Armitstead. He graduated from high school and then was drafted into the US Army where he served during the Korean War. He married Etta Memmott Schult on June 28, 1952, in the St. George LDS Temple.
Blaine lived and farmed grapes for raisins in Dinuba, California, then he was an auto mechanic in Fresno. After retirement he moved to the Uintah Basin where he and his wife were ordinance workers in the Vernal LDS Temple for several years. They also served a mission in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
Blaine enjoyed gardening, tinkering with cars, and teasing everyone! He loved his grandchildren and adored spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Etta, of Roosevelt; children, Julie (Mark) Hansen, Tetonia, Idaho; David (Tammy) Armitstead, Perry, Utah; Karen (Paul) Percival, Roosevelt; 16 grandchildren with 4 step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Simpson, Fresno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna; a brother, Donald; and his parents.
Blaine will be taken to Fresno, California, where he will have a graveside service at the Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S Cornelia, Fresno, CA, 93706, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
