Betty Mitchell

    Betty Lou Hansen Mitchell, age 90, of Altamont, passed away February 14, 2015, at the Senior Villa in Roosevelt.
    She was born May 2, 1924, in Altonah, to Linden Chris and Vera Delila Allred Hansen.  She married Ned B. Mitchell and they later divorced.  
    Betty really enjoyed taking scraps of material and making them into soft warm beautiful quilts as well as turning garage sale and thrift store finds into something wonderful.  She always loved to go dancing, and her favorite music was for the Big Band Era.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served faithfully in various callings and as an ordinance worker in the Vernal LDS Temple.  
    She is survived by her children, Roger Mitchell, Mayla (Curtis) Parker, Tawna Mitchell, Gil (Sheela) Mitchell, Lanis (Lonnie) Deans; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Norma Hansen, and brother-in-law, Hershel Iorg.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Patricia Mitchell; brothers, Gordon Hansen and  Lynn Hansen; sister, Donna Iorg; and grandson, Rory Mitchell.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Altamont LDS Stake Center.  There will be a viewing at the church that morning from 9:30-10:45.
