Betty Lou Shelton Mecham, age 79, of Roosevelt, passed away May 26, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Salt Lake City.
She was born December 31, 1935, in Bridgeland, to Don and Edna Case Shelton. She married Blaine A Mecham in Elko, NV. He died in 1985.
Betty worked at the Frontier Motel in Roosevelt as a housekeeper for over 25 years. She was an excellent example of love and compassion that she instilled deeply into her family. She took in anyone and everyone, and they each became her own. She enjoyed reading everything, and found great joy in her fruit trees, using the fruit to make delicious jams. In her younger days, she was a baton twirler for the marching band. Her faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was strong and she believed people would do their best, always.
She was a wonderful mother who was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Betty is survived by her children, Darwin Mecham, Roosevelt; Roger Mecham, Colorado; Jeanette Hackford, Salt Lake City; Sabrina Cabibi, Roosevelt; Darick Mecham, Roosevelt; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a brother Joe (Darelyn) Shelton, Roosevelt.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Gary & Ronnie; grandchildren, Shaylynn Taylor; Angel & Jesse Behena; siblings, Nort, Nona Rasmussen, Mary Wardle, and Genial Burrell.
