For those unable to attend the funeral service in person, it will be live-streamed here.
Betty Donna Mott Hamblin, age 95, of Duchesne, passed away peacefully July 28, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 25, 1926, in Orem Bench (what is now Pleasant Grove), Utah, to Orson Orlando and Romanza Bancroft Mott. She married Jesse "Jess" Hamblin on December 10, 1945, and they were later sealed in the Vernal Temple.
Betty retired from Hill Airforce Base, as warehouseman instructor for the new automated warehouse system, even writing the script and creating a video to teach other airbase employees around the country, how to use the new warehouse system. She and her cousin maintained the Strawberry Community Cemetery for years after her father was unable to and before it was turned over to the city. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was also active in the senior citizen community of Duchesne and has received many awards for her volunteer work.
Betty was a gypsy at heart and an adventurer who traveled often and was in the Good Sam RV Club for several years. Like her father, she loved to search for hidden treasures as they hunted for gold and silver together. She rode motorcycles, water skied, went camping, and gardened prolifically. She was artistic and crafty and enjoyed making jewelry, needle work, painting, and so much more. Musically inclined, she was self-taught on various instruments.
She was a generous, kind, and compassionate person, always looking after the needs of others. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and countless friends, and was much loved by them. To Betty, there really was no such thing as strangers, only friends she hadn't met. Most of these friends became her daughters, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they adopted her as their own Mom and Grandma. She loved and adored her chihuahuas, Dobby, Sassie, and Chloe, but Dobby chose grandma as 'his person'. Her spunky and fun personality will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her children, Ron (Connie) Hamblin, Colorado Springs; Rory (Linda) Hamblin, Evanston; Romanza (Dennis) Sorensen, Duchesne; Rayde (Pamela) Hamblin, Midvale; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and their spouses, 1 great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess; her parents, Orson & Romanza; son, Russell Deon Hamblin Sr, daughter-in-law Sherry Hamblin; grandson, Ryan Hamblin; siblings, Olive Belt, Boyd Mott, Charles Mott, and Pauline Brown.
The family would especially like to thank the Uintah Basin Home Health and Hospice care providers for their tireless help and support they gave Mom and her family caretakers, and those that were with them at the end.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Duchesne Stake Center. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Strawberry Cemetery.
