Betty Claudine Fillingim

    Betty Claudine Potter Fillingim, age 75, of Myton, passed away January 3, 2018, at her home.
    She was born April 21, 1942, in Roosevelt, to George Leonard and Doris Mae Young Potter.  She married Leon Fillingim on November 14, 1958, in Roosevelt, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 21, 1965.
    Betty was a school lunch lady for over 28 years, and it was a job she thoroughly enjoyed.  She would often get there well before she was on the clock, and she knew every child’s name and whether they needed special dietary accommodations – which she would fix herself, often from food she brought from home.  Her favorite thing was riding  horses in the High Uintahs, where she would hunt, fish, and camp with her family.  She felt that it was her duty to get the horses bridled for the kids.  She also enjoyed crocheting, canning huge batches of produce from her garden and fruit trees, and quilting – making well over a 1000 quilts in her lifetime.  
    She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings.  She was in the Scouting program for 26 years and she helped all of her sons receive their Eagle Scout Award.  
    She loved her family, especially her grandkids – even near the end she was still getting down on the floor to play with the little ones.
    Betty is survived by her husband, Leon, of Myton; her children, Don Lynn (Melanie), Pindale, AZ; Dan Neal, Roosevelt; David Leon (Sheila), Cedarview; Doug Matthew (Sammi), Myton; Dale John (Rajette), Lindon, AZ; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way, brothers and sisters, Shirley (Ray) Rachele, Helper; Lurrine Keel, Roosevelt; Velma (Ron) Giles, Duchesne; Kay (DeLoy “Bud”) Wilson, Duchesne; and Leland (Teresa) Potter, Roosevelt.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris; and her siblings, Leonard Potter, Mary Hallett, and Richard Potter.
    Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Myton LDS Chapel.  There will be a viewing on Sunday at the Hullinger Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m.
