Bert C “Bud” Young, age 89, of Tabiona, passed away at his home with his family by his side on November 15, 2022.
Bud was born April 22, 1933 in Fruitland, Utah to Robert E “Bert” and Mariam Ivie Young. He married Velda Jones on July 29, 1955, they were sealed in the Vernal Temple on July 31, 2021. She died February 21, 2011.
Bud graduated from Duchesne High School and was Student Body President. He enjoyed basketball, fishing, horses, hunting, participating and attending rodeos, working on his ranch and farm, watching the Jazz play, working with wood and was a master at operating heavy equipment. His family was the most important thing to him and he cherished each and everyone of them.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as counselor in the Fruitland Branch.
He is survived by his children, VaLona (Max) Fabrizio, Steven (Beth Ann) Humes, Sherilyn (Michael) Arnold, Kathy (Val) Oman, 17 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and brothers, Lanny “Bake” (Cheryl, “Bunny”) Young, and Stan (Suzanne) Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Velda, son, Rodney Young and an infant, daughter, Melanie, a grandson, Moral Fabrizio, and brothers, Dean & Jerry Young.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabiona Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Viewings will be held at the church on Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Tabiona Cemetery with military honors presented by the Duchesne American Legion, Utah National Guard and Patriot Guard Riders.
