Elvy Berith Marianne Carlson, of Bluebell, 93 years old with a strong mind, and sweet demeanor, passed peacefully from this earthly realm February 20, 2025.

She was born October 6, 1931, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Sven Arthur Wiman and Gunborg Amalia Nordström .

She immigrated to the United States in 1949 joining an older sister and brother-in-law in Salt Lake City. Her parents and a younger sister joined them in 1952. Living in Salt Lake City, she met and married her devoted husband of 48 years, Gustav Arne Carlson. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 2, 1950. They lovingly raised three children, two boys and a girl, Arne, Lynn, and Diane. Many family memories were created in the out of doors, the city girl from Stockholm loved camping. Berith was adept at cooking delicious, flaky trout from the many fishing trips they took throughout the west. As a couple, they instilled a love and respect for nature in their children.

Berith was talented in knitting and other needle arts that she learned from her mother. She was always intentional and organized in any task or job, sometimes overly so, we joked she worried too much, she just wanted to give her best.

In 1980 Gustav and Berith moved to Bluebell, Utah, getting out of the city, retiring near their oldest son Arne. They wanted to be close to their grandchildren, to see them grow, and be present in their lives. Bjorn, Anika, Chelsey and Erik brought them so much joy.

The welcoming community, the new friendships they forged, and beauty of the area made Bluebell home. They loved their little log house on the hill that they built themselves with help from friends and family.

A cheerful, willing, and humble servant to her faith. Berith held many positions through the years, teaching Sunday school and serving in Relief Society, doing whatever, whenever she was called. She loved her community at the Swedish Branch in Salt Lake City, and her Bluebell Ward where they attended church for many years. Berith will be remembered well by many. A temple mission to Stockholm, Sweden with her husband in 1987 to 1988 was a blessing and an adventure they both enjoyed in their later years.

Berith is survived by her children, Arne Carlson, Roosevelt; Diane Carlson, Garden Valley, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Kathy Carlson, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Bjorn (Shanna) Carlson, Anika (Cameron) Istilart, Chelsey (Jon) Spears, Erik (Kylie) Carlson; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian (Robert) Huetter, St. George.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav; her son, Lynn Carlson; parents; sister, Ehring Saetoo and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Bluebell Cemetery.
