On Thursday, August 12, 2021, Benetta Jean Clegg, age 77, loving wife and mother passed away peacefully at her home in Tabiona, Utah with the love of her family surrounding her. After struggling with complications of diabetes, vision loss and dementia, she is now in the arms of our Lord.
Benetta was born in Denver, Colorado on July 31, 1944 to Benjamin H. Baker and Lauretta Baker. She married her best friend and love of her life, Dell Roy Clegg on August 3, 1963 and they were sealed for all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1979. Over their 58 years of marriage they had six children, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Benetta was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She was a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing a variety of dishes for her family and friends. She was a very avid reader with a large library of books, the majority of which were cookbooks. Every recipe created a new cooking challenge for her and she couldn’t wait for the opportunity for her family to taste her next culinary creation.
Benetta is survived by her loving husband, Dell Roy Clegg of Tabiona, UT; and her children, Tracy (RaAnn) Clegg, Duchesne, UT’ Teresa Tang, Duchesne, UT; Todd (Lorna) Clegg, Roosevelt, UT; Travis (Mindy) Clegg, Tyson (Staci) Clegg, Roosevelt, UT; and Trent (Melanie) Clegg, Orem, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin H. Baker and Lauretta Baker.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabiona Cemetery. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at the Tabiona Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
