Arvin G Labrum

   
Arvin G. Labrum, age 85, passed away peacefully, with his daughter Kathy by his side, and returned to his Heavenly Father on December 24, 2017 at the Uintah Care Center. 
Arvin was born in Roosevelt on November 23, 1932, to Morrell and Grace O. Adams Labrum. He was an only child. 
Arvin graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.  In 1952 he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1956 as a Gunner’s Mate. 
Arvin spent his growing up years in his father’s Ford Dealership in Roosevelt, Labrum & Adams.  That is where his love for cars began and where he learned the skills of the trade. He had numerous jobs and businesses throughout his life working on vehicles, selling them, and repairing them.
In June of 1957 he married Jennie Kay Wardell in the Salt Lake Temple and they had three children.  After 27 years of marriage, they divorced. 
In 1960 they moved to Roosevelt and built Arvin’s Automotive which he owned and operated for 20 years.  He was a partner in G&L Chevrolet for three years and later purchased the Arctic Cat Snowmobile Dealership. He was part owner in Grace’s Dress Shop and Labrum Real Estate. 
  Arvin spent much of his youth and adulthood hunting pheasant and deer with his father, sons, and other Labrum family and friends. He also enjoyed racing snowmobiles with friends around the state of Utah, Wyoming, and at the big track in West Yellowstone.  He and his racing team won many trophies. He was an avid hunter and trap shooter and won many awards for singles and doubles. He was inducted into the Utah Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame in 2003. He enjoyed having his family participate with him in these activities.
Arvin had a love for flying and flew often with Lavere and Lynn all across the United States, mainly for trapshooting competitions.  He got his pilot’s license through the GI Bill after he got out of the service.  He later owned a V-tail Beach Craft Bonanza airplane for many years.  He was an excellent pilot and took his family and friends on many unforgettable plane rides. He worked a few years at the Roosevelt Airport with Happy Howard. 
Arvin spent his later years in Salt Lake City where he ran his business, Classy Colors. He recently returned to Roosevelt to spend the rest of his retired years close to family. He has spent the last few years at The Villa in Roosevelt and the Uintah Care Center in Vernal. 
Arvin is survived by his children, Kathy Grace Karren, Roosevelt; Kenneth Morrell (Melody) Labrum, Neola; and Shawn A. Labrum, Toquerville; thirteen grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morrell and Grace; two grandsons, Sharad Arvin Labrum & Colton James Labrum; one granddaughter, Brinady Kay Labrum; and one great-grandson Bodee Brian Ross.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt 1st & 4th Ward Chapel.  A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.
Burial in the Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Roosevelt American Legion.
