Anne Ray Wilkins Bertola, age, 87, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away July 22, 2023. She drew family and friends around with her unique stories, and outlook on life. There was always laughter bubbling wherever she could be found. She was a great listener and was willing to offer sound advice garnered from her life’s experiences and love of family.
Anne was born August 21, 1935 to Edward O and Vivian Gee Wilkins in Duchesne, Utah. She attended school in Duchesne, Grand Junction, CO and Salt Lake City. She married Charley Bertola, Jr., September 29, 1951 in Salt Lake City. They had three sons, Robert, Doyle (Sandra) Bertola, Monument, CO; Charley Randall (Maxine) Bertola, Fruitland, Utah and Kane (Luella) Bertola, Duchesne.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charley and son, Randy Bertola, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Ed Doelle. She leaves a beautiful family legacy of eleven grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Anne loved to create beauty. Her creations included crochet dollies, afghans, and dresses. She did many quilts, which were a joint venture between Charley and Anne and were donated to friends and family. Her love of photography has passed down to her son and grandson, and her paintings adorn every family’s home She loved sports and coached the boys in their early baseball careers and cheered on her sons and grandchildren through many sporting events. She loved her time as a camp host in Rock Creek and Yellow Pine. She and Charley enjoyed their time with friends snow birding near St. George.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Strawberry Cemetery.
