David Mangum

David Wesley Mangum Sr., 79, of Roosevelt, formerly of Vernal, and East Carbon, Utah, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 25, 2016 at the Uintah Basin Rehabilitation and Sr. Villa.
He was born on February 1,1937 in Blanding, Utah to James Wesley and Ethel Hawkins Mangum.
David served in the National Guard and the United States Army from 1955-1958. He served a mission to the Western States mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He married Clarine Parry on November 1, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with 5 children, 21 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 more on the way. She died November 23, 2015.
David was a coal miner and worked at Hiawatha and Kaiser Steel Corp. until he had to retire due to health challenges.
David enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, fishing, camping, gardening and being with his family. He was a real do-it-yourselfer and was always fixing something, whether it was a car, an appliance or whatever.
When David's medical needs became to much for his family to handle, we were thankful to have The Villa and for the great care they provided to Dad, and later to Mom before her death. We're so grateful to all of the employees there and all they did to make their lives as comfortable as possible.
He is survived by their children, Terri (Scott) Terril, Carol (Don) Guymon, Elizabeth (Kim) Petersen, David (Caroline) Mangum Jr, James (Mary) Mangum, his sisters, Lora (Dale) Petersen, Mae Crane, his brother, Marvin (Marilyn) Mangum, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Clarine, his brothers and sisters Bill Mangum, Lila Ennist Kelly, Carl Mangum, Alma Mangum, James Mangum and Elizabeth Mangum.
Funeral services held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roosevelt 1st and 4th ward chapel at 32 So. State Street, Roosevelt, Utah. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Roosevelt American Legion and the Utah National Guard.
