Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, VaLois Long Morrill, age 78 of Roosevelt, passed away unexpectedly May 5, 2008 at her home.
She was born June 16, 1929 in Bennett, UT, to Winfred and Delma Rudy Long. She was a cheerleader at Alterra High School and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. While working at JC Penney, dressing a mannequin in the window, she was spotted by her future husband, Blayne Morrill. They were married February 13, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died July 30, 1991.
Blayne and VaLois raised their two sons in the small farming communities of Whiterocks, and Neola where they were taught how to work and a love of God.
VaLois was a devoted, faithful companion to her husband. She was always at his side whether on the ranch or in his various church and community responsibilities. She was faithful in her own right serving in the Stake Primary Presidency and various teaching callings. She loved working n the Vernal LDS Temple and was interim Temple Matron for a time, as well as serving an LDS mission in the Chicago Temple. She also worked for several years as secretary at the Whiterocks School.
She was an elegant lady with never a hair out of place and took great pride in her home and yard and loved sharing her harvest with family and friends. Her famous raspberry jam will be sorely missed. She was also talented at many types of handwork and was very generous in sharing her crocheted dishrags. While suffering recent health problems she never complained and was an excellent example of enduring to the end.
VaLois is survived by her children, Stewart (Becky) Morrill, Syracuse; Bart (Michelle) Morrill, Neola; grandchildren, Melissa (Adam) Davis; Torrey (Jill) Morrill; Kimberlee (Steven) Kapcsos; Sterling (Becky) Morrill; Parker (Jenn) Morrill; Jackie (Tyler) Petersen; Shane, Christine, and Tegan Morrill; 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers and sisters, Glenice (Don) Palmer, Rocklin, CA; Norman (Joyce) Long; Lowell (Fern) Long; both of Vernal; Larain (Gerald) Mobley, Neola; and Beverly (Wayne) Cantwell, Logan.
