Charles Gray

Charles Alden Gray, age 89, of Roosevelt, passed away April 19, 2016, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1927, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Lewis James and Grace Ellis Gray. He married Elda Hackford, and they later divorced. He married Norma Jean LaRose, February 7, 1967, in Carlin, NV, and she died July 29, 1989.
Charles served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a rancher most of his life and also worked as a police officer in California and the Ute Tribe Police and Fish and Game. He was an advocate with the Ute Tribe Tribal court, drove a school bus for the Uintah School District, and most recently, drove the Radiation Vacation Van. He has also worked in the oil field for the Dowell Company.
He liked to talk and had friends everywhere. His pastime was politics!
Charles is survived by his daughter, Uintah Johnson, Arizona; Aundreau (Balles) Gray, Ft. Duchesne; Michael Gray (Melissa Hardman), Vernal; grandchildren, Brandon, Heather, Aundreau Lewis, Chaka, Porsche, Scott, Angie;7 great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Black, New Jersey; and two nephews, Steve and Harold Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Jean LaRose; children Lewis and Charles Jr., and grandson Andrew Gray.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Gym. There will be a wake at the gym after 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Burial will be in the Ouray-Tabbee Cemetery with military honors presented by the VFW #4519 and the Utah National Guard. Condolences may be shared at www.hullingemortuary.com
